What is a Jon boat? aka johnboat.
Jon boats are simple and easy to use boats that are anywhere from 8 to 20 feet long with flat bottoms and one to three bench seats. They are typically made from aluminum or wood and look like the kind of boat you could make yourself.
They are often used for hunting since the flat bottoms make them fairly stable in water. Due to this stability they can also be used for fishing.
Because of the flat bottom they do well on smooth water. They ride over the waves and do not cut through them — like a Boston Whaler.
You can mount an outboard motor to the transom in the rear of the boat. The johboats are completely open and easy to maintain and customize!
